Bucs Lose Midweek Game to Bulldogs
BUZZARDS BAY, Mass -- Coming off of their comeback, 9-7 win on Tuesday at Suffolk, the Buccaneers hosted Dean College on Wednesday in non-conference play. In the game, Brett Velzis hit his 18th career home run to become the All-Time Program leader in home runs and AJ Pietrafesa extended his hitting streak to 18 games though the Bucs came up short, 8-7.

Maritime
- AJ Pietrafesa had three hits in the game to extend his hitting streak to 18 games. Brett Velzis and Evan Vieira both had two hits.
- Grady Freeman, Alec Marsden, Costa Beechin, and Damon White all had one hit in the loss.
- Velzis drove in three runs, Vieira, Michael Estrada, Beechin, and White all drove in one run.

How It Happened
Dean scored immediately in the top of the first taking a 3-0 lead over the Bucs. In the bottom of the first, the Bucs grabbed two runs back, the first on a Velzis single to score Leslie and the second on a Vieira fielder's choice that scored Freeman. Dean led 3-2 after one inning of play.
After a scoreless second and top of the third, the Bucs took the lead in the bottom of the third. Velzis homered to right center scoring two to give the Buccaneers a 4-3 advantage. Later in the inning, Estrada hit a sacrifice fly to left to extend the lead to two runs, 5-3. Following Estrada, Beechin singled to score Vieira and give Maritime a three-goal, 6-3 lead at the end of three.
The Bulldogs answered in the top of the fourth to cut the deficit to two runs, 6-4 and in the top of the fifth they added another run to make it 6-5.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Maritime scored a seventh run on White's single to score Estrada and re extend the lead to two runs, 7-5.
In the top of the sixth, the Bulldog's home run leader, Suncar, hit a two-run home run to tie the game at 7-7.
Dean took the lead for good in the top of the seventh as Seth Cruz reached on a Buccaneers miscue, their fifth of the game, and the Bulldogs took an 8-7 lead.
Maritime was unable to tie the game or take the game late and the Bulldogs took the 8-7 win in Buzzards Bay.

The Buccaneers are off until Sunday when they'll take on Lesley University at Hendy Field in a doubleheader beginning at 12pm.
