Massachusetts Maritime Academy Foundation Award

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass – Our next award this week is the Massachusetts Maritime Academy Foundation Award. This award was established in 1997 and is presented annually to a senior student-athlete who best exemplified the spirit and philosophy of Division III athletics.

The winner of this year's Foundation award is men's soccer player, Adam Crawford. A four-year member of the men's soccer team and a Marine Engineering major Crawford made 55 starts and appeared in 56 games in his career. As a buccaneer he scored 10 goals, including three game winners, and assisted on seven other goals. His performances on the field throughout his career earned him MASCAC All-Conference selections in all four years at the Academy. Adam leads by example on and off the field and truly embodies the three defining characteristics of a Division III athlete: Discover, Develop, and Dedicate. Even when he was kept off the field due to injury Adam was at practices and games helping his teammates and mentoring the younger players on the team.

"Adam is a great person who comes from a great family," said head men's soccer coach Greg Perry. "He is hard-working and hates to make mistakes, and aims to correct the ones he does make. He knows the game of soccer inside and out and will make great coach at any level. Adam is very deserving of this honor." Added coach Perry.

Congratulations to men's soccer player, Adam Crawford on winning the 2020 Massachusetts Maritime Academy Foundation Award.
