Correia Named Assistant Director of Athletics / Senior Woman Administrator

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass -- Earlier this month, Director of Athletics Michael Kelley named assistant women's lacrosse coach Mikayla Correia the newest Assistant Director of Athletics and Senior Women's Administrator within the Massachusetts Maritime Academy Athletic Department, joining Jeremy Cameron as a fellow Assistant Director of Athletics.

Correia is a 2018 graduate of the Academy and during her tenure as a cadet served as Regimental Commander and as a captain of the women's lacrosse team; for which she currently holds virtually every all-time goaltending record. Correia is also a first year coach with the Boston Aces Lacrosse Club organization.

"We are excited to name Mikayla an Assistant Director of Athletics and Senior Women's Administrator at Mass Maritime." Said AD Mike Kelley. "She has been a part of the Academy family for five years and knows what it means to be a Buccaneer."

In her inaugural season as an assistant lacrosse coach and women's athletics recruiter, Correia aided Head Coach Marc Palombo '78 and fellow assistant coach Katelynn Gallagher in leading the team to its first ever winning season. Correia, alongside fellow recruiter and Head Women's Cross Country coach Kaylene Murphy '18, has contributed significantly to the recruitment and retention of the current class of female athletes.

Correia will continue in the role of assistant lacrosse coach for the 2019 - 2020 season and will oversee the women's athletic programs.
