FINAL:              MASSACHUSETTS MARITIME 8, SAINT JOSEPH'S (MAINE)

PORTLAND, Maine --  Junior Keaghan Bartley (Richmond, Va.) netted a pair of goals and two assists for four points to lead Massachusetts Maritime to an 8-4 non-league college men's lacrosse victory over Saint Joseph's (Maine) Tuesday afternoon at Fitzpatrick Stadium.

Bartley tallied twice in the opening quarter to help the visiting Buccaneers (2-0) build a 3-2 advantage after 15 minutes of play, and freshman Benjamin Avakian's (Bourne, Mass.) goal midway through the second stanza extended that margin to 4-2 at the break.  The host Monks (0-2) sliced their deficit to one on junior Matt Donnell's (Watertown, Mass.) marker just 55 seconds after intermission, but Massachusetts Maritime took control of the contest by closing out the frame with the unanswered goals off the sticks of sophomores Ted Powers (Marshfield, Mass.) and Cody Livermore (Ludlow, Mass.) as well as freshman Franklin Ragge (Scituate, Mass.) to ice its triumph.

Livermore notched a pair of goals and an assist to finish with three points in the win for the Buccaneers, who also received two tallies from Avakian and a single helper off the stick of senior Kevin Collins (Hampden, Mass.).  Junior Brendan Barrett (East Sandwich, Mass.) scored twice and added an assist for three points in the setback for Saint Joseph's, which also received tallies from junior Dalton Paquette (Merrimack, N.H.) and sophomore Michael Finn (Quincy, Mass.) as well as a helper off the stick of junior Joe O'Reilly (Suffern, N.Y.).

Sophomore Michael Dolan (McLean, Va.) earned his second straight victory with a four-save effort in goal for Massachusetts Maritime, while junior Connor Trainor (Franklin, Mass.) made six stops in the setback for Saint Joseph's.  The Buccaneers outshot the Monks by a 26-16 margin overall (14-8 on goal) in claiming their third straight triumph in as many series meetings between the two schools.

Massachusetts Maritime returns to the Pine Tree State on Saturday afternoon to square off with SUNY-Maritime in opening round play of the Fourth Annual Maritime Classic at Maine Maritime's Ritchie Field in Castine, Maine beginning at 4:00 p.m., while Saint Joseph's hosts Regis in a non-league outing on Saturday afternoon at Deering Memorial Stadium in Portland, Maine that begins at 1:00 p.m.
