Caruso, Kevin Stanton Earn Spots On D3Football.com Team Of The Week

Accolades continue to come in for members of the Massachusetts Maritime football team following the Buccaneers’ 42-38 come-from-behind victory over Coast Guard last Saturday, as junior wide receiver Keith Caruso and sophomore defensive back Kevin Stanton each earned spots on this week’s D3Football.com Team of the Week.

Caruso, a native of Hingham, Mass. and a graduate of Hingham High School, tied his own school record with 12 receptions for a career-high 195 yards, and he hauled in an 18-yard touchdown pass and a pair of two-point conversion receptions that helped Massachusetts Maritime overcome a 28-9 third quarter deficit en route to a 32-28 advantage.  Through three contests, Caruso leads the team with 22 receptions for 321 yards and a pair of scores, and he ranks second in New England Football Conference play in receiving yards per game (107.0).

Stanton, a native of Abington, Mass. and a graduate of Cardinal Spellman High School, registered a career-high 14 total tackles, including 11 solo stops that featured a goal-line tackle in the on the visiting Bears’ opening drive of the game, and he helped seal the Buccaneer triumph with his first career interception on his own 8-yard-line in the closing minutes of play.

Head Coach Jeremy Cameron’s Buccaneers, who stand at 2-1 overall after their NEFC Bogan Division opening game victory, will travel to Framingham State on Saturday afternoon for a Noon EDT kickoff in a battle of divisional co-leaders.
