Bucs Lose Tight Game with Raiders on Rainy Taylor's Point
BUZZARDS BAY, Mass -- Tuesday night, the Buccaneers women's lacrosse team played host to the Rivier Raiders in a non-conference showdown in rainy, sloppy Buzzards Bay. The Bucs led early though they couldn't hold on against a fast Raiders squad falling in the end 10-8.

How It Happened
In a game where there were more cards handed out than goals scored, 26 cards to 18 goals, the Buccaneers and Raiders had a marathon of a game in the pouring rain on Tuesday. Maritime started the scoring in the first after six minutes of play. Dickinson scored on a powerplay to put the hosts up 1-0. Llewellyn scored her first of the night less than a minute later and followed it up with her second goal and 100th career goal at 4:33 on a powerplay to put the Bucs up 3-0. Lachance scored for Rivier with just under a minute left in the quarter to break the shutout. Maritime led 3-1 after 15 minutes.
Lachance pulled the Raiders within one early in the second on a powerplay and Dickinson got the goal right back at 13:20 to give the Buccaneers a 4-2 advantage. Rivier scored at 12:55 and would score again but only after nine minutes of scoreless play to tie the game at 4-4. Newell scored the first at 12:55 on a powerplay and Wilder scored at 3:54 to tie the game. The Bucs closed out the quarter with two goals from Dickinson to take a 6-4 lead at the halftime break.
In the third, Rivier scored the only three goals of the period to give them their first lead of the game. Wilder scored 35 seconds in and Lachance followed that with a goal at 13:33 and then 5:44, both on power plays, to give her team the lead, 7-6, heading to the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, Maritime scored first, from Deschamps, to tie the game up at 7-7. Lachance retook the lead for the guests at 11:20, 8-7. With just over 10 minutes left in regulation, Dickin scored her fifth of the game, from Durgin, to tie the game again at 8-8. In the final 10 minutes, Rivier's defense and goalkeeper shut down the Bucs, not allowing them to score again. Offensively, Cebrero scored for Riv at 9:05 and Lachance finished the scoring off at 4:25 with her sixth of the night to give the Raider a 10-8 lead and they went on to win by the same score.
