Bucs Bring Home First Place from Canada
MONTREAL, Canada -- The Buccaneers sailing team went to Canada this past weekend for the McGill Cup at McGill University. With 34 points, Maritime outpaces six other teams to bring home first place.
Maritime's 34 total points were tallied thanks to three first place finished out of the 12 events. Going in to the final three events of the Cup, Maritime was in third place. In those final three races they picked up two first place finishes and a third place finish to sail in to first place and win the Cup.
The Bucs finished three points ahead of UMass Amherst and five points ahead of hosts McGill in third. UNH, Middlebury, Bates College, and Amherst College rounded out the field at the McGill Cup.
Maritime will be back on the water this weekend with events at Bowdoin College and Salve Regina University, and will host the Great Herring Pond Invite in Plymouth at the Keith Hartford Sailing Center.
