Crawford and Paine Named to MASCAC 1st Team All-Conference

WESTFIELD, Mass – Wednesday morning, the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference released the 2018 Men's Soccer All-Conference Teams. Two Buccaneers, junior midfielder Adam Crawford (Kingston, Mass) and sophomore defender Benjamin Paine (Dartmouth, Mass) have been named to the All-Conference 1st Team.

Crawford scored three goals and assisted on another in his junior campaign for Maritime. Two of his three goals came in conference with his first coming in a 2-1 loss on the road against Salem State and his second against MCLA, which proved to be game winner, in a 4-0 victory over the Trailblazers. He scored his third and final goal of the season in a home, 3-2, win over UMass-Dartmouth. His lone assist on the season came in a 3-0 win over Dean College at Clean Harbors Stadium. Adam was instrumental in the midfield for the Buccaneers all season long, covering much of the field between the boxes, helping to create plays offensively and foil opposition attacks. Crawford played in 15 of the team's 17 games in 2018, coming off the bench 12 times for the Bucs.

Paine played in 17 of 17 possible games in his sophomore season for head coach Greg Perry. He, along with senior captains, Nick Van Ness (Waldwick, N.J.) and Zach O'Neil (Scituate, Mass), and junior defender Kyle Daly (Plymouth, Mass) roamed the Buccaneer defensive line thwarting many attacks by the opposition, often making things easier for Buccaneer goalkeepers. Paine was part of a Maritime backline that posted two shutouts in 2018, a 4-0 MASCAC win over MCLA and a non-conference, 3-0 victory, over Dean College. Ben was only booked once on the season, a yellow card, and never gave up a foul in the box.

Both players will be back with the Buccaneers in 2019 for their senior and junior seasons respectively.
