BUZZARDS BAY, Mass – It was a cold, windy night by the bay for the MASCAC clash between the Buccaneers and Bears at Clean Harbors Stadium. Prior to the game the four Buccaneer seniors on this year's team, Captains Zach O'Neil (Scituate, Mass) and Nick Van Ness (Waldwick, N.J.), Brendan Gawron (Braintree, Mass), and Connor Murphy (Mashpee, Mass). Goals came at a premium in this game with the Bears striking in the second half, earning them the 1-0 victory over the Bucs.

The Buccaneers outshot the Bears, totaling 18 shots in the game with seven on target. Andrew Wayrynen (Rockport, Mass) and AJ Bubencik (Foxboro, Mass) each had two shots on goal for the hosts. Gawron and Adam Crawford (Kingston, Mass) had four shots apiece with only one on target for each. Murphy, who started in goal, saved five of the six Bear's shots he faced, allowing the one goal.

Bridgewater totaled 12 shots on the night, six of which found Murphy. The lone goal in the game was scored by Kessy Alves, unassisted, following a defensive miscue by the Buccaneers in the 56^th minutes. In goal for the Bears, Nate Morgado picked up his ninth win of the season saving all seven of the shots he saw.

Straight from kickoff, both teams attacked, and often. The game was a bit of a ping pong metaphor as both teams were able to get the ball deep in to the attacking third. Unfortunately for both offenses, the defenses came to play in what was a big MASCAC matchup as Bridgewater was looking to possibly jump in to second place in the conference, while the Buccaneers needed a win to keep their playoff hopes alive. Though both teams kept up a steady attack, neither defense, nor goalie, would budge and the game headed to the half, scoreless.

The Bucs and Bears were aggressive in the first half and the second half was no different. Both teams would attack and both defenses would shut down any hope of a score. Then, in the 56^th minute, a ball rolled through the Buccaneers back line towards Murphy. As Murphy came out to play the ball, Alves found his opening and took advantage of a misplayed ball to roll it in to the back of the net for the goal for the deciding goal. The Buccaneers would attack for the final 34 minutes of the game, creating a number of great chances but were never able to get anything past Morgado and the game ended in favor of the Bears, 1-0.

With the loss, the Buccaneers fall to 4-10-1 on the season, 1-5 in the MASCAC. With the win, the Bears improve to 9-6 overall and 4-2 in conference play.

Next up for the Bucs is a home, non-conference showdown with the Anna Maria College AMCATS on Monday, October 22^nd, with kickoff set for 7pm.
