Lyons Scratch Out 8-5 Win in Men's Lax Over MMA

Ball control and passing helped the Wheaton College (4-8) Lyons post an 8-5 victory over the Massachusetts Maritime Academy Buccaneers (3-6) Wednesday. The Lyons came out of the gate shooting picking up their first goal of the afternoon just 16 seconds into the first quarter. Wheaton scored a second goal with 26 seconds left in the quarter to take a 2-0 lead.
Bucs Edge Clark 10-9 on Late Herman Goal

Junior attackman John Herman (Stamford, CT) scored the game-winning goal just 57 seconds into the fourth quarter and Massachusetts Maritime Academy held off Clark University for the remainder of the game to post a 10-9 Pilgrim League victory.
Bucs End Season with Loss to UMass Boston

Five goals by U-Mass Boston (4-9) in the opening quarter put Massachusetts Maritime Academy (4-8) at an early disadvantage as the Beacons claimed the win by a score of 10-6.
Bucs Selected to Pilgrim League All-Academic Team

Massachusetts Maritime Academy had eight men's lacrosse players named to the 2008 Pilgrim Lacrosse League's All-Academic Team. Seniors defenseman Rory Binder (Media, PA) and midfielder Jake Caplin (Vernon, CT) received the honor, along with junior defender Michael Chretien (Falmouth, MA) and junior attackman John Herman (Stamford, CT).
Springfield College Tops MMA 12-8 in Men's Lacrosse

Massachusetts Maritime Academy sophomore James Hitchings (Dover) made 15 saves Saturday, but it wasn't enough to stop Springfield College (5-5) as the Pride claimed a 12-8 victory over the Buccaneers (3-5) in men's lacrosse. Brian Burke (Del Mar, CA) opened the scoring three minutes into the opening period with an unassisted effort to give MMA an early lead. Springfield bounced right back scoring six times to take a 6-3 lead after the opening 15 minutes. At the half the Pride held a 9-4 advantage. Kyle Gable (Somers, CT) led the Pride offense finishing the afternoon with a hat trick Jake Beebe (Sudbury) and Joe Heney (Plainview, NY) each tossed in two goals for Springfield. The Buccaneers were led by John Herman (Stanford, CT) and Bryan Sears (Scituate) who also ended the day with two goals apiece. Hitchings faced 27 shots from the pride in an outstanding defensive effort. Tom Albano (Ridgewood, NJ) made eight saves for Springfield to pick up the win. The Pride held an edge off the face-off winning 21-of-24. Springfield outshot the Buccaneers 50-36. With the win the Pride improves to 3-0 in Pilgrim League play, while the Bucs fall to 0-3.
