NEWPORT, R.I. -- On Sunday, October 9th Newport, R.I. hosted their annual marathon, presented by Amica Insurance. Participating in the race and running her first marathon was women's cross country sophomore Sophie Strano.

Strano ran in a field of 549 runners and finished 499th with a time of 5:24.45. She finished 30th in the women's 20-24 age group.

Though this was her first full marathon, Strano is no stranger to long distance runs as she competed in the 2017 Zooma Cape Cod Half Marathon in 2017 and has been running for Coach Murphy's women's cross country team at the academy for two seasons.
