Softball Drops Two to Falcons in Conference Play

FITCHBURG, MA -- Coming off of their sweep over Bay Path on Wednesday, the Bucs traveled to Fitchburg to take on the Falcons in conference play on Thursday. The Falcons took both games, 10-0 and 6-2.

 

Game One

How It Happened

Fitchburg scored in the bottom of the first to take a 1-0 lead. They added one run to that lead in each of the next two innings to take a 3-0 lead after three.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Falcons put the game away scoring seven runs to take a 10-0 lead. The Bucs couldn't get on the board, losing game one in five innings.

How It Happened

Maritime took the lead in the top of the first inning on a Hunter single up the middle that scored Pope and Roberts-Capak. The Falcons erased that lead quickly in the bottom of the inning, scoring two runs to tie the game at 2-2 after one.

Fithburg took the lead for good in the bottom of the second, scoring one run and lead 3-2 after two.

In the fourth inning, Grass drove in her second run on a sacrifice fly to put her team up 4-2.

The hosts scored two more in the fifth to take a 6-2 lead. The Falcons held off the Bucs in the sixth and seventh to pick up the 6-2 win and sweep of the Bucs.

 

What's Next

The Buccaneers are back home on Monday, April 18th for a conference doubleheader with Worcester State at 12pm. It will also be senior day for the senior Bucs.
