Softball Swept in Doubleheader by Cadets
BUZZARDS BAY, MA -- The Buccaneer softball team welcomed the Norwich Cadets to Rollins field for a non-conference doubleheader on Sunday. After a close first game, 5-0, to the Cadets, Norwich took game two in five innings, 11-1.

- Annika Beebe recorded three hits to lead all players in the game. Leadoff hitter Liliana Rolfe had two hits for the Cadets.
- Maren McGinn, Kennedy White and Nicole Perault each had a hit as well.
- Rolfe and Beebe tallied the team's two extra-base hits in the game, a double and triple respectively.
- Laura Deaton, McGinn, Emma DeGoosh and Perault recorded RBIs for the Cadets.
- White had the lone stolen base in the game.
How It Happened
Norwich scored first in the top of the first inning to take an early 1-0 lead. The Buccaneers were held at bay for the first three innings. In the top of the fourth, Norwich scored one to run their lead to 2-0. They scored again in the fifth, jumping out to a 3-0 advantage.
In the bottom of the fifth, the Buccaneers threatened, loading the bases but couldn't bring any runs across with two outs to play with.
In the sixth, Norwich scored two more to make it 5-0. The Buccaneers couldn't bring any across and went down 1-2-3 in the seventh as the Cadets took the win in game one.

- Sydney Wood led the game with three hits, including a triple.
- Laura Deaton, Julia Vawter, and Kennedy White each had two hits. Vawter hit a double and Deaton had a triple.
- Nina Biello had an extra-base hit in the win, a triple.
- Deaton, Vawter and White each drove in two runs.

How It Happened
The game remained scoreless after the first inning. In the second, each team scored a run to make it 1-1 after two.
The game remained tied at one after the third as neither team brought a run across. In the top of the fourth, Norwich brok the game open scoring four runs to take a 5-1 lead.
In the top of the fifth, the Cadets scored six runs to take a 10-run, 11-1, lead. With the game on the line, the Buccaneers went down 1-2-3 in the bottom of the fifth ending the game giving the Cadets the sweep of the Bucs.

The Buccaneers travel to Regis College on Wednesday, March 30th, to take on the Pride in a non-conference double header beginning at 5pm.
