BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Freshman Daniel Sibbald (Weymouth, Mass.) netted a career-high six goals to lead Massachusetts Maritime to a 15-0 non-league college men’s lacrosse victory over Wheelock Thursday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium.

The host Buccaneers (3-11) jumped out to a 6-0 first quarter advantage, as Sibbald netted a hat trick in the opening 15 minutes of play and added three of four second quarter tallies that extended Massachusetts Maritime’s lead to 10-0 at the break, as five different players scored in the final 30 minutes of play to account for the final score.

Junior Will Doucette (Manchester, Mass.) collected two goals in the triumph for the Buccaneers, who also received a goal and two assists from freshman Stephen Ferro (South Deerfield, Mass.) as well as a marker and helper off the stick of fellow freshman Todd Solari (Sandwich, Mass.).  Seniors Matt Donahue (Westwood, Mass.) and Mark Robinson (Wilbraham, Mass.), junior Nate Lawson (Middlebury, Vt.), sophomore Alex Katapodis (Wrentham, Mass.) and freshman Jack Murphy (Cohasset, Mass.) also scored on the night for Massachusetts Maritime, which received single assists off the sticks of seniors Jake Bickley (Wilbraham, Mass.) and Craig Nichols (Marshfield, Mass.), junior Matt White (Westwood, Mass.) and sophomores Kevin Flanigan (Sandwich, Mass.) and Dan Langley (Abington, Mass.).

Freshman Paul Painten (Walpole, Mass.) picked up his first collegiate victory and shutout with a pair of saves in the opening 30 minutes in goal for Massachusetts Maritime, as fellow freshman Dan Bourque (Reading, Mass.) made one stop in the second half of action for the hosts.  Sophomore Michael Manning (Brookfield, N.H.) made 17 saves in the setback for the visiting Wildcats (0-8) as the Buccaneers outshot Wheelock by a 45-8 margin for the match.

Massachusetts Maritime heads to Springfield, Mass. on Saturday afternoon to take on Springfield in a Pilgrim Lacrosse League match that begins at 1:00 p.m., while Wheelock heads across Boston on Monday evening to take on Wentworth in a non-league outing that begins at 7:00 p.m.
