Crew Squads Combine For Quartet Of Top Six Petite Finals Finishes At New England Championships

WORCESTER, Mass. -- Both Massachusetts Maritime crew squads concluded their respective 2016 spring seasons by combining for four top six Petite Finals finishes at the New England Rowing Championships that took place on Saturday afternoon on Lake Quinsigamond.
The Buccaneer women’s varsity four consisting of junior coxswain James Lucenta (Yorktown, Va.), junior Rochelle Gaudette (Fall River, Mass.), sophomores Brianna Caissie (Webster, Mass.) and Christina Brennan (Halifax, Mass.) along with freshman Kaleigh Hoffman (Noblesville, Ind.) posted a sixth place time of 10:13.48, while Massachusetts Maritime’s men’s varsity four comprised of freshman coxswain Olivia Swenson (Centerville, Mass.) and seniors Ryan Skavis (Shrewsbury, Mass.), Andrew Murphy (Randolph, Mass.), Liam Barry (Wellesley, Mass.) and James Belbin (Carver, Mass.) placed fourth with a time of 8:04.76.
The Buccaneer men’s second varsity four comprised of freshman coxswain Andie Painten (Walpole, Mass.), juniors Michael Pieroni (Arlington, Mass.) and Matthew Peluso (Ledyard, Conn.) as well as freshmen John Taglieri (Duxbury, Mass.) and Cameron MacLean (Townsend, Mass.) placed second in the Petite Final with a time of 9:00.84, while Massachusetts Maritime’s novice four squad consisting of freshman coxswain Austin Wolfe (Wakefield, Mass.) and fellow freshmen Nathanael Costa (Forestdale, Mass.), Jacob Bernard (Kensington, Conn.), J. Nicholas August (Bristol, R.I.) and Patrick Wall (West Roxbury, Mass.) posted a third place finishing time of 8:20.42.
