PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Buccaneers traveled to Rhode Island on Wednesday for a non-conference doubleheader with Johnson & Wales. Unfortunately for the Bucs, their bats never got hot and they dropped the doubleheader, 8-2 and 10-0.

  • Amanda Madigan, Mady Lyons, and Jessica Forneiro all had two hits for the Wildcats. Mackenzie Clee, Caroline Amorelli, Morgan Pelletier, Danielle Floyd, and Jadyn Torres had one hit.
  • Amorelli and Forneiro drove in two runs. Clee, Pelletier, and Chloe Brunelle drove in one.
  • Madigan and Forneiro scored twice, and Clee, Abby Nersesian, Rachel Gosselin, and Floyd scored one run.

How It Happened

The Wildcats scored first in the bottom of the first to take a 1-0 lead.

JWU added a run in the second and went up 2-0.

In the third, the Wildcats added two more runs and led 4-0 after three innings.

In the top of the fourth, Booker homered to get the Bucs on the board. Johnson & Wales led 4-1 after four innings of play.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Wildcats added two insurance runs and led 6-1 after five.

Maritime scored their second run in the top of the sixth inning, thanks to a Wildcat error on a ball hit by Holler that allowed Kereza to score. In the bottom of the frame, the Wildcats added two more runs to make the score 8-2.

How It Happened

The Buccaneers were no hit by Reed in the ball game with just two base runners in the loss. The Wildcats scored 10 runs over four innings, including six in the fourth to secure the 10-0 victory.
