Rifle Drops Narrow Smallbore Competition In MAC Match At Wentworth

BOSTON, Mass. --  The Massachusetts Maritime rifle team dropped a narrow two-point decision (2,100-2,098) in smallbore competition to Wentworth in a Mid-Atlantic Conference match on Saturday afternoon, as the Buccaneers fell by a 62 point margin (2,187-2,125) in air competition on the day.

Junior Michael Surette (Lynn, Mass.) posted a high score of 538 points in smallbore competition for Massachusetts Maritime, which also received a score of 532 points from junior Kevin Geisel (Gloucester, Mass.).  Senior Junita Goldman (Oakdale, Conn.) and freshman Jeffrey Morin (Middleton, Mass.) followed with scores of 515 and 513 points, respectively.  Surette and Geisel each notched 543 points in air competition for the Buccaneers, while Goldman amassed 526 points and Morin followed with 513 points on the day.

Massachusetts Maritime, now 4-4 in MAC play on the season, travels to New London, Conn. next Saturday for the 2009 Admiral's Cup match with Coast Guard.
