Surette, Geisel Post Top Scores As Rifle Drops MAC Decision To MIT

FALMOUTH, Mass. --  The Massachusetts Maritime rifle team dropped a Mid-Atlantic Conference decision to MIT on Saturday afternoon at the Massachusetts Military Reservation, falling in smallbore competition by a score of 2,198-2,098 and in air competition by a 2,223-2,138 margin.

Junior Michael Surette (Lynn, Mass.) posted the top individual score in both smallbore (555) and air (564) for the Buccaneers, while fellow junior Kevin Geisel (Gloucester, Mass.) followed with scores of 555 in smallbore and 548 in air, respectively.  Senior Junita Goldman (Oakdale, Conn.) notched a total of 510 points in smallbore and 500 in air for the hosts, who also received scores of 498 in smallbore and 526 in air from freshman Jeffrey Morin (Middleton, Mass.).

Massachusetts Maritime, which stands at 6-5 in MAC competition on the season, wraps up its fall slate in two weeks by traveling to Cambridge, Mass. to take on host MIT, Wentworth and the Virginia Military Institute in MAC matches on Saturday, December 5th.
