
Buccaneers Held off by Cougars on Taylor's Point
BUZZARDS BAY, Mass -- Bucs men's lacrosse played host to Clark on Tuesday night in non-conference play. The long-time rivals played to a close 15-13 final in favor of the Cougars. The score matches the score from last year's meeting, which Clark won, 15-13.

How It Happened
The Buccaneers took an early lead on a McDonough goal 51 seconds in. Clark followed that up with two goals to take a 2-1 lead halfway through the first. Sullivan tied the game for the Bucs at 2-2, and then Clark ran out to a three-goal 5-2 lead with just under four minutes left. Kane scored another for the Bucs, and the Cougars scored one more in the quarter with a minute left. Clark led 6-3 after one.
In the second, Barrett scored first to get the Bucs within two goals. Clark scored to pull back out to a three-goal lead, 7-4. Maritime then proceeded to score two goals in 20 seconds from Vricella and McDonough, and McDonough scored again two minutes later to tie the game at 7-7. Maritime scored the last goal of the half from McIntire with 1:42 on the clock and took their second lead of the game, 8-7, and led by that score at the half-time break.
In the third, Clark scored off the faceoff, five seconds in, to tie the game at 8-8. Sullivan gave the Bucs another lead, 9-8, with a goal at 13:51. The Cougars went on to score four unanswered and open up a three-goal lead in the third, 12-9. Kane scored another for the Bucs in the third to make it a two-goal game. Clark scored shortly after and led 13-10 at the end of the third quarter.
Maritime outscored Clark in the fourth, 3-2, including the last two goals of the game, though it wasn't enough to come back and the Cougars left Buzzards Bay with a 15-13 win.
