
Bucs Hold of Late Charge by Cadets to earn win in Vermont
NORTHFIELD, VT -- The Buccaneers traveled to Vermont on Saturday for their annual matchup with the Norwich Cadets. Maritime made the trip worthwhile, getting goals from seven players and holding off the Cadets late in the fourth quarter to win 13-9.

How It Happened
The Buccaneers scored first in the game on a goal from Vricella less than three minutes in. Maritime held on to their one-goal advantage for three minutes until the Cadets tied the game at 1-1 with 9:42 left in the first quarter. Vricella scored again at 5:37 to give the Buccaneers their second lead. Sullivan extended the lead to two goals with 1:19 left in the first. Maritime led, 3-1, after one quarter.
In the second, Mucha opened the scoring with his first of the day and put the Bucs up 4-1. Norwich scored back-to-back goals at 8:46 then 4:53 to close the gap to one goal, 4-3. With six seconds left in the half, Shanahan scored his first to give the Bucs a two-goal, 5-3, lead at the half.
The Bucs controlled the third period with three straight goals to open the second half. Shanahan, Kosiewicz, and Kane all scored in the first 4:24 of the third with Kosiewicz and Kane's goals separated by just 12 seconds. Norwich netted one goal in the quarter at 6:44 and neither team scored again in the period. Maritime led the Cadets, 8-4, at the end of the third quarter.
Maritime started the fourth quarter strong with three straight goals for the second quarter in a row on goals from Mucha, Kane, and Kosiewicz in the first 3:42 of the fourth. Down 11-4, Norwich sprinkled in a goal from Rainis before the Bucs scored two in a row from the sticks of Mucha and McDonough at 9:10 and 6:52. In the final 5:22 of the game, Norwich made a push scoring four in a row to end the game. the first came at 5:22 with the last three goals coming in the final 1:35 of the contest. The Bucs held off the full comeback to win by four, 13-9.
