Kwedor Named As MASCAC Baseball Pitcher Of The Week For Second Time This Season

Massachusetts Maritime sophomore righthander Brian Kwedor was named as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season on Monday afternoon for his efforts in leading the Buccaneers to a pair of league triumphs last week.

A native of Marshfield, Mass. and a graduate of Marshfield High School, Kwedor posted a 2-0 mark with an 0.90 earned run average in 10 conference innings pitched.  Brian tossed a complete-game seven-hitter and fanned three in notching an 8-0 shutout victory at MCLA last Monday afternoon, and he came on in relief to toss three innings of one-run ball with four strikeouts in yesterday’s 10-8 win over Framingham State.

On the season, Kwedor has amassed an overall 4-2 mark with a team-leading 1.71 ERA, as he has struck out 19 in 31 2/3 innings pitched on the season.  Brian also copped the accolade back on March 6th after tossing 2 1/3 scoreless innings of relief to earn the triumph in an 8-5 victory over Houghton (N.Y.).

Head Coach Mike Kelley’s squad, which stands at 10-12 overall and 5-5 in MASCAC play, hosts Bridgewater State in a key conference doubleheader on Thursday afternoon at Commodore Hendy Field beginning at 2:00 p.m. EDT.
