YARMOUTH PORT, Mass. – The third annual Massachusetts Maritime Academy Women's Athletics Golf Tournament was a delightful culmination to a record-setting spring for female Buccaneer athletes. Entergy Plymouth Station and C&W Services made the day possible and the generosity of sponsors, donors, and alumni was celebrated during the evening's dinner at Cummaquid Golf Club.

On a picture-perfect spring day, the tournament commenced at 10 a.m. with welcome remarks from Capt. Ed Rozak, Vice President for Student Affairs. Cummaquid's beautiful course then served as host for 16 foursomes, made up of a friends of the Academy, alumni, coaches and staff, and even a few students.

The winning group featured Regimental Commander Mikayla Correia, a four-year starter for women's lacrosse and holder of virtually all Buccaneer goalkeeping records. The senior golfed with Elizabeth Bramham, Zachary Reed, and Michael Quinn, finishing at an impressive 63. The foursome won a pair of gifts cards to the Cummaquid Course Pro Shop.

Just behind them was a tie for second, with the foursome of Eddie Gallagher, Chris Darmon, Steve O'Leary, and Eric Healey awarded the silver via coin flip. Joining them with a score of 64 was Jill Callan, Dan Chauvin, Charlie Fountain, and Jake Nickerson.

Other awards were given for the longest drive on the final hole, with Tom McEntee and Linda Letendre taking home awards for best male and female driver. McEntee was part of the fourth-place team that also featured Capt. Rozak, Alex Rozak, and Steve Coriglio.

The final golfing prizes were given for the closest drive to Hole No. 5 for the women and the eighth hole for the men. Bramhall was best for the ladies at 11 feet, while Gallagher came in at 13 foot, 11 inches.

Dinner guests were graced with several talks, beginning with Track and Field Head Coach Cathy Lohse, which has seen several records broken this spring. Correia then spoke movingly about life as a female athlete at the Academy, highlighting the importance of the support of the donors. Academy President Admiral Francis X. McDonald then concluded the evening with an update on upcoming projects and his support for women's sports.

Numerous items were auctioned off to raise funds for the eight Academy women's sports, including Red Sox tickets, a signed Bruins jersey, a two-night stay at the Cranberry Gardens Inn, and a wide variety of gift cards. In total, through the generosity of donors and golfers, $3,500 was raised for the Lady Bucs Scholarship.
