FINAL:              MASSACHUSETTS MARITIME 7, PINE MANOR 0

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Senior Lauren Salem (Westfield, Mass.) and freshman Aoife Callinan (West Falmouth, Mass.) each scored a pair of goals as Massachusetts Maritime presented Head Coach Ray Cabral with his 100th career collegiate victory by posting a 7-0 non-league college women’s soccer triumph over Pine Manor Wednesday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium.

Salem gave the host Buccaneers, who set the sixth-year program’s single season victories mark in improving to 4-4-2 on the year, the only tally they would need in the 19th minute before Callinan struck for a pair of markers in a 43 second span on feeds from junior Laura Marin (West Yarmouth, Mass.).  Sophomore Emily Behen (Danvers, Mass.) extended Massachusetts Maritime’s lead to 4-0 at the break on assists from Marin and Salem, and the hosts iced their triumph with three goals in the final 17-plus minutes of play, as sophomore Brittany Driscoll (Spencer, Mass.) set up freshman Rachel Tallarico’s (Orefield, Pa.) first collegiate tally in the 73rd minute before Salem tacked on her second of the night and team-leading ninth of the season in the 79th minute.  Freshman Ashley Solari’s (Sandwich, Mass.) first collegiate marker on a feed from fellow freshman Robyn Plocinski (Berkeley Heights, N.J.) with 4:49 remaining closed out the scoring for the contest.

Sophomore Katie Levesque (Wilmot, N.H.) picked up her fourth victory and fifth shutout of the season with three saves in goal for Massachusetts Maritime, while senior Natasha Kopystynsky (Johnsburg, Ill.) made 17 stops in net in the setback for the visiting Gators (2-8), as the Buccaneers outshot Pine Manor by a 37-3 margin while holding an 8-3 edge in corners on the evening.  Cabral’s 100th career win comes in his 10th overall season of coaching at the collegiate women’s level, as that total includes seven seasons at UMass Dartmouth from 1989-95.

Massachusetts Maritime heads to Worcester, Mass. on Saturday morning to take on Worcester State in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference outing that begins at 11:00 a.m., while Pine Manor will be idle until Thursday, October 17th when the Gators host Wheelock in a non-league match in Chestnut Hill, Mass. beginning at 4:00 p.m.
