FINAL:              MASSACHUSETTS MARITIME 4, FISHER 0

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Senior Lauren Salem (Westfield, Mass.) netted a pair of goals and added an assist for five points to lead Massachusetts Maritime to a 4-0 non-league college women’s soccer victory over Fisher Wednesday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium.

Salem gave the host Buccaneers (3-3-2) the only tally they would need in the 21st minute of action when she blasted a shot from 20 yards out, and she set up freshman Heather Castro’s (Taunton, Mass.) first collegiate goal in the 54th minute of play before collecting her second unassisted marker of the night less than three minutes later.  Freshman Aoife Callinan (West Falmouth, Mass.) closed out Massachusetts Maritime’s scoring in the 65th minute, as she converted a feed from junior Mariah McGrath (Mansfield, Mass.) for her first collegiate tally for the Buccaneers, who have already matched the sixth-year program’s record for single-season victories.

Sophomore Katie Levesque (Wilmot, N.H.) picked up her third victory and fourth shutout of the season without being called upon to make a save for Massachusetts Maritime, while freshman Kourtney Kellard (Danvers, Mass.) made 21 stops in the setback for the visiting Falcons (3-7), as the Buccaneers had 29 of the contest’s 30 shots and took all 14 corners in the first-ever meeting between the two schools.

Massachusetts Maritime heads to Westfield, Mass. on Saturday afternoon to take on Westfield State in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference match that begins at Noon, while Fisher hosts Vermont Tech in a non-league outing on Friday afternoon in Medford, Mass. beginning at 5:00 p.m.
