FINAL:              FITCHBURG STATE 2, MASSACHUSETTS MARITIME 0

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Goals by senior Kimberly Carroll (Tewksbury, Mass.) and Rachel Jamieson (Foxboro, Mass.) lifted Fitchburg State to a 2-0 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference women’s soccer victory over Massachusetts Maritime Saturday afternoon at Clean Harbors Stadium.

Carroll gave the visiting Falcons (4-5, 1-1 MASCAC) the only tally they would need in the 34th minute when she converted a corner kick from sophomore Jacqueline Walker (Derry, N.H.) for her first marker of the season, and Jamieson provided some insurance with an unassisted goal (her second of the year) from the left side in the 69th minute to account for the final score.

Senior Jillian Kirouac (Leominster, Mass.) made a pair of second half saves to notch her fourth win and second shutout of the season in the triumph for Fitchburg State, while sophomore Katie Levesque (Wilmot, N.H.) made 12 stops in the setback for the host Buccaneers (2-3-2, 0-2 MASCAC), as the Falcons outshot Massachusetts Maritime by a 23-2 margin (15-2 on goal) while holding a 6-1 advantage in corners for the contest.

Massachusetts Maritime hosts Fisher in a non-league outing on Wednesday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Fitchburg State entertains New England College in a non-league match on Wednesday evening in Fitchburg, Mass. that also begins at 7:00 p.m.
