Men’s Track Wins Multiple Events: Breaks Records in Westfield

WESTFIELD, Mass – After a great showing in Fitchburg last weekend the Buccaneer men's track & field team travelled to Westfield State to compete in their second and final meet of the 2021 spring season. 

Senior sprinter Brady Bailey (Norwell, Mass) won the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.31 seconds. Bailey went on to finish third in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.99 seconds.

In the 200 meter dash, sophomore Anthony Childs (Mattapoisett, Mass) finished first with a time of 22.57 seconds. This is also a new program record in the event, previously held by Bailey. Childs finished third in the 100 meter dash at 11.41 seconds.

Senior captain Ryan Hayes (Weymouth, Mass) finished 10th in the 200 meter dash at 26.20 seconds.

In the 4x400 relay, the Bucs finished 2nds with a time of 3:36.00. The team was comprised of senior captains Alex Imperillo (Chelmsford, Mass) and Brady Bailey, and included Childs and Alec Goldenberg (Douglas, Mass).

The throwers were just as impressive for Maritime with a win in the shot put by Gerry Mackin (Weymouth, Mass), his second shot put victory in as many weeks with a throw of 13.94 meters. Also in the shot put, freshmen Luke Dawson (East Bridgewater, Mass) and Matthew Barry (Braintree, Mass) finished fifth and seventh respectively with throws of 11.56 and 10.39 meters.

In the discus throw, junior captain Chris Chaisson (Duxbury, Mass) finished third and Mackin finished fourth with tosses of 36.98 and 35.91. Dawson also secured a top ten finish in the discus, finishing ninth with a 32.07 meter throw.

Chaisson also registered a third place finish in the hammer throw, throwing 38.51 meters.

The Buccaneers complete their season with a strong showing out in Westfield. Congratulation to Brady Bailey, Ryan Hayes and Alex Imperillo on outstanding careers as Buccaneers.
