Lohse Named Men's Cross Country Head Coach

BUZZARDS BAY, MA -- This spring, after longtime head and assistant coach Chris Slattery stepped down following the conclusion of the 2021 season, Director of Athletics Mike Kelley named Cathy Lohse the next head coach of the Buccaneer men's cross country program.

"Cathy has been a part of our program for a very long time and has seen success in track and field and as the assistant coach for the women's cross country team. We are excited to name her the men's cross country coach and know that she will bring an unmatched energy and extensive knowledge to the position," Said Kelley.

Coach Lohse has been with the Buccaneer track and field program since its inception in 2007. She originally served as the assistant coach and was elevated to head coach in 2013. Since then, she has grown the program to a competitive level at the MASCAC, regional and national level. Since she became head coach she has coached an All-American shot puter, Colin McCabe '21, who finished third at the 2019 National Championships, and many regional top-five finishers in multiple events.

Cathy takes over a men's cross country program who has seen success in its time a program on Taylor's Point, including a 2005 MASCAC championship.
