Football Hosts "Books Around Bourne" Reading Program Event

Six members of the Massachusetts Maritime football team, along with Head Coach Jeremy Cameron and two of his assistants, welcomed children and parents from the surrounding community on Tuesday morning for this week’s “Books Around Bourne” reading program sponsored by the Bourne Public Library.

Junior Caleb Brown (Falmouth, Mass./Falmouth) and sophomore Chris Winbourne (Wrentham, Mass./King Philip) read football-themed children’s books to the group inside Clean Harbors Stadium, and the duo was joined by freshman teammates Tim Faria (East Providence, R.I./LaSalle Academy), Sean Kahler (Greenville, R.I./North Smithfield), Lucas Kane (Norton, Mass./Norton) and Kenny Kern (Hopkinton, Mass./Xaverian) for some fun running drills on the field with the kids and their families.

Cameron, who was accompanied by assistant coaches Odell Jones and Chase Gallagher, said the event “is a great opportunity for our players and program to interact with the kids and to have some fun.  Being part of the community is such an important part of being a student-athlete here at the Academy, and I want to thank the Bourne Public Library for giving us the opportunity to host this event once again.”

The Buccaneers begin training for the upcoming 2016 season this weekend, as Massachusetts Maritime opens its new slate on Friday, September 9th with the Ninth Annual Chowder Bowl clash at SUNY-Maritime.
