Football Gearing Up For 10-Game Slate In Cameron's 12th Season At Helm This Fall

Though summer is still in its early stages, preparations are well underway for the 2016 Massachusetts Maritime football season that begins shortly after Labor Day.  Head Coach Jeremy Cameron is set to welcome back a veteran squad for his 12th campaign in Buzzards Bay, as the Buccaneers look to tackle another tough 10-game schedule this fall.

The 44th season in the program’s modern era kicks off on Friday, September 9th when Massachusetts Maritime battles rival SUNY-Maritime in the Ninth Annual Chowder Bowl in Throggs Neck, N.Y. beginning at 7:00 p.m. EDT, as the Buccaneers are seeking their second straight series win and third in the last four years.  The Buccaneers open their home slate on Saturday, September 17th by renewing their long standing rivalry with Maine Maritime in the 44th Annual Admiral’s Cup at Clean Harbors Stadium as part of Homecoming weekend, as Cameron’s crew looks to regain the trophy for the fifth time in the last six seasons.

Massachusetts Maritime will play four of its first six contests along the banks of the Cape Cod Canal, as the Buccaneers also welcome Worcester State (Saturday, September 24th), Western Connecticut (Saturday, October 8th), Westfield State (Saturday, October 15th) and Framingham State (Saturday, October 29th) to Taylor’s Point for Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference clashes.  Cameron’s squad hits the road for league contests at Fitchburg State (Saturday, October 1st), UMass Dartmouth (Saturday, October 22nd) and Plymouth State (Saturday, November 5th) before closing its regular season slate on Saturday, November 12th at rival Bridgewater State in the 38th Annual Ocean Spray Cranberry Bowl.
