Robert E. Corradi SAAC Service Award

Robert E. Corradi SAAC Service Award

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass – Today, our award presentation brings us to the Robert E. Corradi Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Service Award. In 2010, the Department of athletics was proud to begin a new tradition and instituted an award that is awarded annually to a member of the senior class who had provided valuable contributions and service to the Buccaneer Student-Athlete Advisory Committee during their time at the Academy. In 2015, the Buccaneer SAAC unanimously voted to name this award in honor of the longest tenured Director of Athletics in Academy history, Robert E. Corradi.

The recipient of this year's SAAC Service Award is George Lampros of the Buccaneer football team. An International Maritime Business major, George served as the Vice-President and Co-President of the Buccaneer Student-Athlete Advisory committee over the past two years. In his role(s) with SAAC, George was outstanding and invaluable. He was always there to assist with collections for our SAAC food drive to benefit Bourne Friends Food Pantry and our toy drive to benefit Children of Cape Cod and the Islands through Children's Cove, a child advocacy center based on the Cape. While those are our two big events of the year, George was always ready to lend a hand in any other capacity or for any event SAAC had their hand in.

During the COVID pandemic when SAAC was coordinating how we would collect items for our food and toys drives, George stepped up and went above and beyond to reach out to his fellow cadets to still collect food items and donations so that the Committee could fulfill our commitment to helping in the community on campus and beyond.

On the field, Lampros was a four-year member of the Buccaneer football team, playing in every game in his career serving as the program's place kicker and punter since the fall of 2017. From 2017-2019, as a place kicker, Lampros converted 69-of-76 extra-point attempts (91%), and 10-of-18 field goal attempts (56%). As a punter, he punted 116 times for 4,431 yards, with 19 inside of the 20-yard line.

In 2019, Lampros put together his best season, converting 4-of-6 field goals (67%), tied for most field goals made in the MASCAC and second in field goal percentage in the conference, and 32-of-33 extra-point attempts (97%), first in extra-points converted percentage. He punted 33 times for 1,373 yards, a MASCAC-high 41.6 yards per punt, with a long punt of 62 yards and pinned opponents inside their 20-yard line six times. His 2019 performance earned him MASCAC All-Conference honors as the 1st Team Punter and 2nd Team Kicker. Lampros was also named to the 2018 MASCAC All-Conference 2nd Team as a punter.

Congratulations to this year's recipient of the Robert E. Corradi Student-Athlete Advisory Committee award, George Lampros!
