BUZZARDS BAY, Mass – Monday afternoon, the MASCAC released their weekly awards. Among the winners was women's cross country runner, Lily Hakkarainen (Chesterfield, N.H.) who has been named Rookie of the Week for last week.

In the lone race of the week, the 14^th Annual Travis J. Fuller Invitational, hosted by Massachusetts Maritime Academy on the Cape Cod Canal, Hakkarainen finished the three mile race with a time of 20:10. The time was good for second place in the race and helped her team secure a first place overall finish on the women's side. What made the finish for Lily and the overall win for her and her teammates even sweeter was that it came on her 18^th birthday. Being named Rookie of the Week is just the cherry on top of the birthday cake for Hakkarainen.

The women's cross country team travels to Westfield State University this Saturday for the Joseph Early Invitaitonal.
