Prokscha, Smith Named As Women's Lacrosse Co-Captains For 2014 Campaign

The start of the 2014 Massachusetts Maritime women’s lacrosse season is just a few days away, and as final preparations continue for the season opening match against Wentworth, Head Coach Leslie Bullis has announced that sophomores Janine Prokscha and Molly Smith will serve as co-captains for the third Buccaneer varsity campaign.

Prokscha, a native of Washington, Conn. and a graduate of The Gunnery, netted 10 goals and an assist for 11 points during her rookie season for Massachusetts Maritime last spring, as she led the team with 38 draw controls while adding 31 ground balls and seven caused turnovers.  Smith, a native of Westwood, Mass. and a graduate of Westwood High School, was the second leading scorer for Bullis in 2013 after collecting 23 goals and four assists for 27 points and chipping in with 28 ground balls, 27 draw controls and eight caused turnovers.

“Janine and Molly established themselves as team leaders last season and throughout this past year, and I am very confident that they will continue to set the example of hard work for their teammates to emulate both on and off the field,” Bullis, a former standout at Division II Bentley, says of her co-captains.  “They will help our program continue to grow and help us reach our goals both for the season and for the future.”
