How It Happened

Nichols outshot Maritime in the first half 10 to 3 and only one of those 10 shots mattered for the Bison. In the 31st minute, with the match scoreless, Nichols was awarded a penalty kick after a Maritime foul. Joia was unable to save Pugliese-Savage's shot and the Bison took a 1-0 lead. The score remained 1-0 at the half.

In the second half, the Buccaneers offense kicked into high gear as they outshot Nichols 10-9 in the second 45. The Bucs had no better chance to tie the game than when they were awarded a penalty kick in the 86th minute. Burke stepped up and went to the keeper's left and Barreto Santana read the shot perfectly to keep the score 1-0 in favor of the Bison. Nichols wasted away the remaining time of the clock and took home the three points with a 1-0 win over Maritime.
