BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Junior Chris Annunciata (Waltham, Mass.) netted four goals and an assist for five points to lead Plymouth State to a 14-7 non-league college men’s lacrosse victory over Massachusetts Maritime Wednesday afternoon at Clean Harbors Stadium.

The visiting Panthers (3-1) jumped out to a 4-2 advantage after 15 minutes of play before using a six-goal second quarter outburst, highlighted by man-up markers by Annunciata and senior Mike Ventura (Columbia, N.J.), to take a 10-4 edge at the break.  Plymouth State netted the first four tallies after intermission to close out their scoring on Annunciata’s fourth goal of the day with 5:11 remaining in the third stanza, as the host Buccaneers (1-2) kept the visitors off the board for the final 20-plus minutes of play to account for the final score.

Junior Zach Frank (Wakefield, Mass.) added a pair of goals and two assists in the triumph for the Panthers, who also received a pair of markers and a helper off the stick of senior Ty Long (Dover, N.H.).  Sophomore Nick Morello (North Billerica, Mass.) added two goals as well for the visitors, who also received single tallies from junior Scott Giusti (West Newton, Mass.) and sophomores Aaron Boss (Keene, N.H.) and Scott Pelligrinelli (Glastonbury, Conn.) as well as two assists each from senior Stephen Patch (Newbury, N.H.) and junior Brett Miller (Windham, N.H.).

Sophomore Drew Prowse (Wakefield, Mass.), the reigning Pilgrim Lacrosse League Player of the Week, netted his second hat trick of the season and added an assist to finish with four points in the setback for Massachusetts Maritime, which also received the third straight hat trick off the stick of fellow sophomore Dylan Freudenberg (Islip, N.Y.).  Senior John Hojnoski (West Springfield, Mass.) added a marker and two assists for the Buccaneers, who also received single assists from freshmen C.J. Hanson (Melrose, Mass.) and Sean Staples (Norwell, Mass.).

Junior Jesse Kutz (Hopkinton, Mass.) picked up the win in goal for Plymouth State with three first half stops, while freshman Bobby Noonan (Guilford, Conn.) added a pair of second half saves for the visitors.  Junior Paul Painten (Walpole, Mass.) made 10 saves over the first three quarters of play for Massachusetts Maritime, which also received a pair of fourth quarter stops from freshman James Klose (Ellicott City, Md.), as the Panthers outshot the Buccaneers by a 44-19 margin for the match.

Massachusetts Maritime heads to Portland, Maine on Sunday afternoon to take on Maine Maritime in the annual Admiral’s Cup clash at Fitzpatrick Stadium beginning at 1:00 p.m., while Plymouth State travels up to Boston on Thursday evening to take on Wentworth in a non-league outing that begins at 7:00 p.m.
