Buccaneers Finish 19th in Field of 24 Teams in Westfield

WESTFIELD, Mass -- In a field of 179 runners and 24 teams at the Think Pink Breast Cancer Awareness James Earley Invitational in Westfield on Saturday, the Buccaneers finished in 19th as a team with their top three runners finishing in the top 110.

Senior captain Lily Hakkarainen (Chesterfield, MA) finished 107th in points, first for the Bucs, with a time of 22:53.51 and a mile split of 7:22.1.

Senior captain Sarah Smialek (Dartmouth, MA) and junior Alyssa Greico (Andover, MA) finished 109th and 110th respectively. Smialek finished at 22:55.99 with Greico right behind her at 22:58.64. 

Freshman Sophia Strano (East Sandwich, MA) finished in the fourth Maritime spot in 115th overall at just over 23 minutes. Fellow freshman Ashley Brennan (Weymouth, MA) rounded out the scoring spots for the Bucs with a 119th place finish at just under 24 minutes total.

The Bucs finished 19th overall out of 24 teams with 560 points, 26 points ahead of 20th place Wentworth and 17 points behind the 18th place finished Lesley. 

The Buccaneers travel to Franklin Park in Boston, MA for their next meet hosted by Suffolk University on Saturday, October 16th.
