Women's Cross Country Looks To Blend Youth, Experience Into MASCAC Title Run

A blend of youth and experience will look to serve the Massachusetts Maritime women's cross country team well this season, as Head Coach Linda Letourneau welcomes back six letterwinners and a group of talented newcomers to the fold in 2011.

Letourneau, who helped build the foundation for the Buccaneer program during her matriculation at the Academy, will look to leadership for this year's team from a pair of senior co-captians in Emily Burbank (Yarmouthport, Mass./Dennis-Yarmouth) and Julie Shebroe (Little Falls, N.J./ Passaic Valley). Burbank, who returns to the squad after a year's hiatus, and Shebroe are described by their head coach as "talented individuals who will continue our tradition of leadership in competition, in the classroom and in the community."

Juniors Sophie Enman (Marblehead, Mass./Marblehead), Gretchen Kramer (Stafford, Va./Colonial Forge) and Anna Whittemore (Weatogue, Conn./Simsbury), along with sophomores Lauren Bateman (Newbury, Mass./Newburyport) and Liz Leonardi (Sandwich, Mass./Sandwich), provide additional experience for Massachusetts Maritime as returning letterwinners this fall, while junior Janeen Manghis (Nantucket, Mass./Nantucket), sophomore Jenelle Piche (Coventry, R.I./Coventry) and freshmen Tenley Gillett (Manchester, N.H./Culver Academy) and Kelsey Lombardi (Forestdale, Mass./Upper Cape Tech) will be looking to impact the Buccaneer fortunes as newcomers in 2011.
