FINAL:              ANNA MARIA 2, MASSACHUSETTS MARITIME 1 (OVERTIME)

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Junior Teresa Ryan’s (Shrewsbury, Mass.) goal 7:03 into overtime lifted Anna Maria to a 2-1 non-league college women’s soccer victory over Massachusetts Maritime Thursday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium.

The visiting Amcats (3-2) grabbed a 1-0 lead just 8:39 into the contest when senior Arianna Masley (Oxford, Mass.) converted a feed from sophomore Paige Leighton (Georgetown, Mass.) and lofted a high shot in from 25 yards out, but the host Buccaneers (1-2) answered less than four minutes later when junior Emily Behen (Danvers, Mass.) netted her second marker of the season on a direct kick from 20 yards out in the 13th minute of play.  That score held up until Ryan’s heroics in the extra session, as she took a deflected pass from freshman Savanah Catucci (Mahopac, N.Y.) on the left side to net Anna Maria’s golden goal.

Freshman Kate Kneeland (Windham, Maine) picked up the win in goal for the Amcats with a six-save effort, including five in the second half alone, while junior Katie Levesque (Wilmot, N.H.) made five stops in suffering the setback in net for Massachusetts Maritime, including a point blank save in the closing seconds of regulation to send the game to the overtime period.  The Buccaneers outshot Anna Maria by a 10-7 margin, but the Amcats held a 5-3 edge in corner kicks for the evening.

Massachusetts Maritime heads to Throggs Neck, N.Y. on Saturday afternoon to take on SUNY-Maritime in a non-league outing that begins at 1:00 p.m., while Anna Maria hosts Lasell in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference match on Saturday morning in Paxton, Mass. beginning at 11:00 a.m.
