SALEM, Mass. --  Junior Jackie Gauthier (Danvers, Mass.) netted a goal and an assist to lead Salem State to a 3-0 victory over Massachusetts Maritime in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference women’s soccer finale for both schools Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field.

The host Vikings (6-10-1, 2-5 MASCAC) completed their scoring in the first 31-plus minutes of play, as freshman Bianca Gallo (Peabody, Mass.) converted a Gauther feed just 8:41 into the match to provide Salem State with the only marker it would need.  Gauthier’s unassisted tally in the 27th minute extended that margin to 2-0, and junior Alyssa Konsavtich (North Stonington, Conn.) closed out the Viking scoring in the 32nd minute on an assist from freshman Casey Connolly (Nahant, Mass.).

Freshman Lauren Garchinsky (Saugus, Mass.) picked up the shutout win in goal for Salem State with a four-save effort, while sophomore Kim Courcy (Warwick, R.I.) made eight stops in the setback for the visiting Buccaneers (3-11, 0-7 MASCAC) as the Vikings outshot Massachusetts Maritime by an 18-4 margin for the afternoon.

The Buccaneers established school records for victories in a season in just their third varsity campaign this fall under Head Coach Christine McCarey while also setting new standards in goals (19), assists (12) and total points (50).
