CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Freshman Jackee Sanchez (Fair Oaks Ranch, Calif.) notched a goal and an assist to lead Lesley to a 5-0 non-league college women’s soccer victory over Massachusetts Maritime Saturday morning at Edward Field.
The host Lynx (3-1-1) received markers from five different players on the day, as Lesley scored four times in just over 13 minutes midway through first half en route to a 4-0 advantage at the break. Sophomore Kate Ryder (Glastonbury, Conn.) gave the hosts the only goal they would need in the 16th minute of action, while juniors Haley Puckhaber (Lake Placid, N.Y.) and Jenna Fralick (Woburn, Mass.) followed with tallies in the 19th and 24th minutes, respectively. Sanchez capped the first half scoring in the 29th minute on a feed from fellow freshman Taylor Smith (Sandy Hook, Conn.) before setting up senior Alyson Durben (Stow, Mass.) for the final Lynx goal of the match in the 51st minute of play.
Freshman Veronica Halen (San Diego, Calif.) assisted on the first three Lesley goals of the contest, as the goalkeeping tandem of sophomore Corinne Dasti (Eastham, Mass.) and freshman Victoria Ellis (Laguna Beach, Calif.) combined for three saves for the hosts. Sophomore Rachel Johnson (South Chatham, Mass.) made 11 stops in net in the setback for the visiting Buccaneers (1-1) as the Lynx outshot Massachusetts Maritime by a 19-3 margin for the match.
Massachusetts Maritime hosts Newbury in a non-league outing on Thursday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Lesley entertains Wisconsin-Lutheran in a non-league match tomorrow morning at Edward Field beginning at 11:00 a.m.
