FRAMINGHAM, Mass. --  Sophomore Megan Gangell (Lee, Mass.) netted a pair of goals to lead Framingham State to a 5-0 victory over Massachusetts Maritime in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference women’s soccer opener for both schools Saturday morning at Maple Street Field.

Junior Kerry Kiley (Mansfield, Mass.) gave the host Rams (2-4, 1-0 MASCAC) the only goal they would need 3:41 into the contest on a feed from senior Melissa Price (Norwood, Mass.), and sophomore Jillian Waters’ (Orange, Mass.) unassisted tally in the 30th minute extended that margin to 2-0.  Gangell then struck twice in a 39 second span in the 32nd minute of action, as her first goal came on Price’s second helper of the half and the second unassisted, to give Framingham State a 4-0 advantage at the break, and freshman Cara Murtagh’s (Quincy, Mass.) goal in the 76th minute on a feed from fellow freshman Cassandra Russo (Worcester, Mass.) closed out the hosts’ scoring.

Freshman Kaitlyn Rossi (Pepperell, Mass.) picked up the win in goal for Framingham State with a three-save effort, while sophomore Rachel Johnson (South Chatham, Mass.) made 12 stops in net in the setback for the visiting Buccaneers (1-2, 0-1 MASCAC) as the Rams outshot Massachusetts Maritime by a 20-6 margin for the contest.

Massachusetts Maritime hosts Coast Guard in a non-league outing on Wednesday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Framingham State travels to Chestnut Hill, Mass. on Wednesday afternoon to take on Newbury in a non-league match that begins at 3:30 p.m.
