Cross Country Opens Season at UMD Invitational

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass -- After Hurricane Lee pushed the Buccaneers cross country season opener from Saturday to Sunday, the Bucs began their 2023 season at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Sunday morning. The men's team finished 36th overall in a large field of teams and runners on the varsity side and finished 16th in the men's JV race.

Spencer Reese was the top finisher for the Bucs in 226th place finishing the 8K course in 30:19.24. Cole Guiliani was the second Maritime runner across in 31:26.78 in 245th place. Cohen Buice and Jackson Holschuh finished 258th and 260th respectively and Matthew Pigott rounded out the top five for the Bucs in 265th place.

In the JV race, Troy Penney finished 125th with a time of 32:36.71. Deyne RaptisGrayson Duval, and Ryan Faria finished 145th, 146th, and 148th to round out the top four for Maritime in the JV event.

The Buccaneers will be at home on Friday, September 22nd for the Annual Travis J Fuller Invitational on the Cape Cod Canal.
