Massachusetts Maritime freshman placekicker and punter George Lampros was named as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Football Rookie of the Week on Sunday for his efforts in the Buccaneers’ 28-21 setback at Western Connecticut yesterday afternoon.

Lampros, a native of Bridgewater, Mass. and a graduate of Bridgewater-Raynham Regional High School, converted all three of his PAT attempts, averaged 53 yards on four kickoffs and 39 yards on four punts on the day.  The weekly award is the second of the season for George from the conference, as he was tabbed as the MASCAC Special Teams Player of the Week back on September 17^th for his efforts in a 34-25 Admiral’s Cup victory at Maine Maritime.

Lampros has connected on all three of his field goal attempts to date while also converting 16 PAT’s on the season, as he is averaging 54.5 yards on 25 kickoffs and 35.8 yards on 20 punts.

Head Coach Jeremy Cameron’s squad returns to action on Saturday afternoon when Massachusetts Maritime hosts Plymouth State in a MASCAC clash at Clean Harbors Stadium that kicks off at 1:00 pm EDT.
