WESTFIELD, Mass. --  Both Massachusetts Maritime cross country squads posted solid performances once again at the Westfield State James Earley Invitational on Saturday afternoon at Stanley Park, as the Buccaneer men placed 19^th overall while the Buccaneer women finished 32^nd in the 38-team field.

Freshman James MacVarish (Braintree, Mass.) led the way once again on the men’s side for Massachusetts Maritime, as he covered the 8K course in a time of 27:53.83 that was good for 64^th place individually in a field of 347 competitors.  Juniors Tyler Brady (Woburn, Mass.) and Brenton Andrews (Hubbardston, Mass.) followed in 89^th and 162^nd place with respective times of 28:24.58 and 29:42.67, while sophomore Anthony DeTommaso (Weymouth, Mass.) and senior Steven Migridichian (Shrewsbury, Mass.) rounded out the Buccaneer scoring with respective 212nd and 214^th place finishes in times of 30:55.55 and 31:05.22.  Host Westfield State took top team honors with a score of 77 points, while Siena (84) and Williams (96) followed in the runner-up and third place spots.

Senior Liz Leonardi (Sandwich, Mass.) set the pace on the women’s side for a sixth straight week for Massachusetts Maritime, as she covered the 5K layout in a time of 22:50.43 that was good for 186^th place in a field of 361 competitors, while senior Jenelle Piche (Coventry, R.I.) and freshman Kylie Foster (Sandwich, Mass.) followed in 240^th and 243^rd place, respectively, with times of 23:51.91 and 23:59.97.  Sophomore Dominique Dertien (Panama City, Fla.) and freshman Celeste Menard (Annandale, Va.) rounded out the Buccaneer scoring with respective times of 24:17.09 and 26:56.18 that were good for 250^th and 316^th place, as Williams took top team honors with a score of 46 points while Southern New Hampshire (119) and Saint Rose (121) followed in the runner-up and third place positions.

Both Massachusetts Maritime squads head into Boston next Friday afternoon to compete at the Emmanuel Saints Invitational at Franklin Park beginning at 4:00 p.m.
