Klangos Becomes First Buccaneer All-MASCAC Volleyball Honoree In A Decade With Second Team Selection

Massachusetts Maritime senior outside hitter Charleen Klangos was named to the 2016 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Volleyball all-conference team Wednesday afternoon, as she earned second-team accolades in a vote of the league’s coaches.

Klangos, a native of Lowell, Mass. and a graduate of Notre Dame Academy of Tyngsboro, is the eighth player in school history to earn all-MASCAC honors and the first since Jamie Jorgensen in 2006.  She closed out her career by leading the Buccaneers with 241 kills and 38 service aces while ranking third on the squad with 242 digs.  Charleen notched 470 kills and 540 digs in 75 career matches for Massachusetts Maritime, and she chipped in with 89 service aces and 19 total blocks while earning a pair of spots on the Maritime Classic all-tournament team in both 2015 and 2016.

Klangos helped Head Coach Melanie Appleman’s squad tie the school single-season record for victories with seven triumphs this fall, as the Buccaneers have posted their highest back-to-back win totals in 17 years.
