Dinghy Sailing Records Top Seven Finishes In Weekend Competition

HANOVER, N.H./NEWPORT, R.I.-- The Massachusetts Maritime dinghy sailing team posted a pair of top seven finishes while competing in three events over the weekend, including a seventh place performance at the Salve Regina Olympians Trophy.
The Buccaneers posted a sixth place finish at the Gardner Island Invitational, as junior Timothy Forgione (Kendall Park, N.J.) and sophomore Ryan Novak-Smith (Johnston, R.I.) comprised the “A” entry and sophomores Joseph Dragon (Glen Arm, Md.) and David Rodriguez (Wellfleet, Mass.) were in the “B” boat. At Salve Regina, seniors Matthew Ferlotti (Fairfax, Va.) and Charles Cahill (Duxbury, Mass.), along with junior Robert Queisser (Carmel, Ind.), sailed to a seventh place finish in the final team standings.
Massachusetts Maritime also competed at the Dartmouth Hewitt Trophy, as the tandem of senior Sean McLaughlin (Fairhaven, Mass.), sophomores Kyle Brego (St. John, Virgin Islands) and Evan Sampou (West Newbury, Mass.) and freshmen Jeffrey Adam (Newport, R.I.), Cassandra Kolstad (Madison, Conn.) and Monica Chilcot (Plymouth, Mass.) comprised the three Buccaneer entries that combined to finish 12th overall.
Massachusetts Maritime will compete next weekend at the Storm Trysail Regatta, the Roger Williams Southern Series Four and the Bates Protest Trophy.
