Bucs Men's Cross Country Opens Season at UMass Dartmouth
DARTMOUTH, Mass -- The Buccaneers men's cross country team ran their first race of the 2024 season on Saturday at UMass Dartmouth. In a huge field of 42 teams, the Buccaneers finished 40th with a total time of 2:34:36.71 and an average time of 30:55.35.
Sophomore Spencer Reese was the top varsity finisher for the Bucs in 224th place with a final time of 28:34.13. Freshman Cooper Ogden was the second finisher for Maritime in 280th at 30:46.58 and rounding out the top three in the varsity race for the Bucs was Emerson Donbrindt in 286th at 31:02.28. Griffin Corrick wasn't far behind Donbrindt in 295th with a time of 31:56.42.
In the junior varsity race, Troy Penney was the top Buc in 176th with a time of 31:55.91. Fellow sophomore Cohen Buice was a few spots behind Penney in 182nd and finished with a time of 32:40.05. In the team standings for the junior varsity race, the Buccaneers finished 21st out of 24 teams in the event edging out MASCAC foe Framingham State who finished in 23rd.
The Buccaneers will host their next meet on Saturday, September 28th as part of Homecoming Weekend at the Academy and it will mark the 19th running of the Travis Fuller Invitational.
