FINAL:              MASSACHUSETTS MARITIME 5, DANIEL WEBSTER 1

NASHUA, N.H.--  Junior Stephanie Hunt (Brookfield, Conn.) notched her first career hat trick to lead Massachusetts Maritime to a 5-1 non-league college women’s soccer victory over Daniel Webster Tuesday afternoon at Eagle Field.

The visiting Buccaneers (2-1) collected all five of their goals in the opening 40:51 of the contest, as Hunt netted her three tallies in less than eight minutes early in the first half to stake Massachusetts Maritime to its advantage.  Sophomore Madison Taylor (Longmeadow, Mass.) accounted for the visitors’ fourth marker in the 35th minute of play, while senior Aoife Callinan (West Falmouth, Mass.) closed out the Buccaneer scoring with 4:09 remaining in the half with an unassisted goal.  Callinan, Taylor and senior Kianna Carpenter (Sagamore Beach, Mass.) provided assists on Hunt’s goals in the win for Massachusetts Maritime, while sophomore Rachel Gardner (Bourne, Mass.) collected the helper on Taylor’s tally.

Freshman Sara Coffey (Norton, Mass.) picked up the win in goal with a pair of saves for the Buccaneers, as the reigning Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week’s bid for a second straight shutout was dashed in the 75th minute by junior Amanda Dargie’s (Melbourne, Fla.) unassisted marker for the host Eagles (0-2).  Sophomore Stephanie Evans (Washington, Iowa) made 14 saves in the setback for Daniel Webster, as Massachusetts Maritime outshot the Eagles by a 26-5 margin overall (19-3 on goal) and took 10 of the 11 corner kicks for the contest.

Massachusetts Maritime heads to Throggs Neck, N.Y. on Saturday morning to take on SUNY-Maritime in a non-league match that begins at 11:00 a.m., while Daniel Webster will be idle until next Tuesday afternoon when the Eagles host Dean in a non-league clash at Eagle Field beginning at 4:00 p.m.
