Alumni Field, Leicester, Mass.

FINAL:              BECKER 4, MASSACHUSETTS MARITIME 0

LEICESTER, Mass. --  Juniors Meghan Bealka (Freetown, Mass.) and Maria Colon (Wharton, N.J.), along with sophomore Lindsey Keith (Sutton, Mass.), each netted goal and an assist to lead Becker to a 4-0 non-league college women’s soccer victory over Massachusetts Maritime in the season opener for both teams played Thursday afternoon at Alumni Field.

Keith gave the host Hawks (1-0) the only goal they would need with an unassisted tally in the 19th minute, and Bealka converted a feed from Colon in the 29th minute to extend Becker’s lead to 2-0 at the break.  Colon collected a pass from Bealka just 2:28 after intermission to give the Hawks a 3-0 cushion, and freshman Adrianna Lake (Fitchburg, Mass.) closed out the scoring with 3:43 remaining on a Keith feed for her first collegiate tally to account for the final margin.

Sophomore Jordyn Martel (Chicopee, Mass.) picked up the shutout win in goal with a pair of saves on the day for Becker, while freshman Sara Coffey (Norton, Mass.) made six stops in her collegiate debut in net for the visiting Buccaneers (0-1).  The Hawks outshot Massachusetts Maritime by a 17-6 margin overall (10-2 on goal) and took eight of the nine corner kicks for the contest.

Massachusetts Maritime hosts Anna Maria in a non-league match on Saturday afternoon at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at 1:00 p.m., while Becker heads to Poultney, Vt. on Saturday afternoon to take on Green Mountain in a non-league outing that also begins at 1:00 p.m.
