Women’s Rowing Cruises Past Assumption

WORCESTER, Mass – The Buccaneer women's crew team travelled to Worcester today to take on the Assumption College Greyhounds in their first event of the season. The morning rain in the Central Mass area paused long enough for the varsity women to put on a clinic at Lake Quinsigamond, beating their hosts.

Under overcast skies and winds building, the Bucs moved out in from with a perfect start. They continued to push away with clean blade works and a lot of power. Captain Colleen Weir set a great pace for her boatmates and all four women never let up.

Coxswain, Aidan Alusic-Bingham, who steered a straight-as-an-arrow course, said the shell "flew the last 500 meters of the race."

A boat that consisted of Bow, Molly Pike, 2-seat Bridget Ruiz, 3-seat Victoria Carpenter, stroke captain Colleen Weir and Coxswain Alusic-Bingham finished with a time of 9:14.0 with Assumption finishing well behind at 10:04.5.

The Buccaneers are scheduled to host Johnson & Wales at Great Herring Pond on Saturday, April 24th.
