BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Junior Andrea DiTerlizzi (Shrewsbury, Mass.) collected five hits and drove in three runs at the plate and picked up a pitching win inside the circle to lead Framingham State to a sweep of a Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference softball doubleheader from Massachusetts Maritime by scores of 13-0 in the opener and 11-0 in the nightcap in games played Sunday afternoon at Alison Rollins Field.

Junior Kasey Phipps (Westford, Mass.) and sophomore Alyssa Shea (Lakeville, Mass.) added three hits and two RBI each in the opening game triumph for the visiting Rams (9-13, 5-1 MASCAC), who jumped out to a 10-run second inning advantage.  Sophomore Kelly Reardon (Groveland, Mass.) rapped out two hits and drove in three runs in the opening contest for Framingham State, which collected 13 hits in support of DiTerlizzi, who allowed two hits and struck out three to improve to 6-5 on the season.  Senior Jess O’Meara (Stoneham, Mass.) and freshmen Janelle Beaulieu (Buzzards Bay, Mass.), Meghan Thibeault (Scituate, Mass.) and Erin Eastman (Harwich, Mass.) each recorded singles in the opening game setback for the host Buccaneers (2-14, 0-6 MASCAC), as Beaulieu allowed seven earned runs in suffering the setback inside the circle for Massachusetts Maritime.

Framingham State jumped out to a 6-0 lead through three innings of action in the nightcap and insured its triumph with three fifth inning tallies, as DiTerlizzi went 3-for-3 with a pair of RBI in the win for the Rams, who also received two RBI each from senior Megan Dumas (Holden, Mass.) and sophomore Kristyna Smith (Orleans, Mass.) as well as two hits off the bat of freshman Taylor Ezold (Westfield, Mass.) as part of a 12-hit attack.  Sophomore Alysia Morrissette (Ware, Mass.) picked up her third victory with a complete game two-hitter on the mound for the visitors, as she struck out five along the way.  Sophomore Holly McLaughlin (Belmont, Mass.) rapped out a triple in the nightcap setback for the Buccaneers, who also received Thibeault’s second single of the day in the contest, as Beaulieu went the distance inside the circle for the hosts.

Massachusetts Maritime travels to Salem, Mass. on Monday afternoon to take on Salem State in a MASCAC twinbill that begins at Noon, while Framingham State hosts Westfield State in a MASCAC doubleheader on Monday afternoon in Framingham, Mass. that begins at 1:00 p.m.
